How Should I choose an RF Antenna for my Application?
The antenna choice is critical in determining the overall performance and legality of a system. There are many issues related to understanding and selecting an antenna, which are covered in Application Note AN-00500. It should be noted here, however, that as frequency increases, antenna length is reduced. In some applications, a large antenna element is unsuitable for size or cosmetic reasons. This requires the designer to use a high operational frequency or create a unique antenna solution.

How do I design an Antenna Matching Network?
System designers should identify their final design's primary application frequencies their antenna element(s) and the antenna location in their Design. As standards change and demand grows for wireless data transmission, board layouts can no longer rely on “plug-and-play” options. For example, a simple remote temperature node may require a flexible embedded dipole 915 MHz antenna for Low-Power, Wide-Area IoT applications but more complex, mesh-internet-connected public lighting may need 5G capable elements or Wi-Fi 6E/ Wi-Fi 7 compatible antennas.
